WHAT MAKES COMPETITION POLICY WORKS? Paolo SABA - Italian Competition Authority Paolo is Deputy Secretary General of the Italian Competition Authority. He has a law and economics academic background. He joined the Italian Competition Authority in 1991 working for several years in the Research and International Relationships Directorate. From 1996 through to 1997 he worked for EC Directorate General for Competition and, from 1998 through 2000, he was at the OECD Competition Law and Policy Division. Since 2006 he has been in charge of the Authority’s Directorate for Conflicts of Interests. For the Italian Competition Authority he was involved in the drafting and adoption process of the most recent legislative reforms of the EU antitrust and merger control regimes; he chaired ECN working groups on the implementation of EC Regulation n. 1/2003; he served as project leader in several EU technical assistance projects; he participated in a number of international competition policy events and fora; and he drafted official documents on regulatory reform and competition advocacy. |
