The conference gathered the most prominent scholars of the economics of competition policy in order to illustrate to a vast audience the latest contributions to the subject matter.
Participants in the Conference prepared a survey on the topic attributed to each of them, in which the relevant literature is summarized.
The scientific literature was related also to landmark antitrust cases decided either in the US or in Europe, or in both jurisdictions.
Contributors pointed out the main questions still open and the research agenda. Speakers emphasized the role of the economic analysis in deciding antitrust cases, also revealing the existing deficiencies of the economic theory and/or of the available empirical tools.
The conference took place in June 2005 in Rome.
